Win At Home Pt. 5 | May 21, 2023
Nehemiah 4:6-14 (CEB) We continued to build the wall. All of it was joined together, and it reached half of its intended height because the people were eager to work. But when the Ammonites heard that the work on the walls was progressing and the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble. So we prayed to our God and set a guard as protection against them day and night. Meanwhile, our enemies were saying: “Before they know or see anything, we can be in their midst and start to kill them. We’ll stop the work!” So I took up a position in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall in an open area. Then I stationed the people by families, and they had their swords, spears, and bows. After reviewing this, I stood up and said to the officials, the officers, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember that the Lord is great and awesome! Fight for your families, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses!” √ UNHEALTHY EMOTIONS Hebrews 12:15 (TLB) Watch out that no bitterness takes root among you, for as it springs up it causes deep trouble, hurting many in their spiritual lives. √ CONSTANT CONFLICT √ DIVIDED ATTENTION Nehemiah 6:1-3 (NLT) Sanballat and the rest of our enemies found out that I had finished rebuilding the wall, so Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But I realized they were plotting to harm me, so I replied by sending this message to them: “I am engaged in a great work and I can’t come down. FIGHTING FOR YOUR FAMILY I. STAY ALERT. Nehemiah 4:8-9 (NIV) They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat. I Peter 5:8 (NIV) Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. II. STAY COMMITTED. I Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
